| So, the blood test came back 100% normal. Which would have been a good thing except for the fact that shortly after that I developed insomnia. I've always taken 30-60 minutes to fall asleep, but lately I had been lying awake for 2+ hours. This culminated in staying awake for over 4 hours last Sunday night. Let me tell you, it's not fun when you're dead tired but can't fall asleep.
So I went to this Chinese doctor, who said a possible cause is the stress of the new school year after months of carefree summer, or just stress in general. She recommended not to do any reading or mind-stimulating activity for one hour before sleeping, and to watch some light TV just before I slept, such as any comedy sitcom. The idea being that TV will turn your mind to mush, which seems reasonable enough.
So I followed that recommendation (mostly), and along with drinking some (obviously) foul-tasting herbal medicine, it seems to be helping.
Random fact I picked up while reading a book about insomnia: Sleep is a lot more refreshing if you sleep continously, rather than say sleep for 4 hours, wake up for whatever reason, and fall asleep again for another 4 hours.
Anyway, apart from my various health issues ( distressingly enough a new one seems to crop up every term), life has been good.
School has not been exceedingly difficult, in fact just the opposite. I do however foresee trouble in Math and perhaps Biology, but I am living in bliss until the next exam. (because ignorance is....)
I found some music CD's in our CD rack that we have never listened to, put some up, and see for yourself:

I'm trying out for the school badminton team this week, I hope I can make it in since I only play casually. I was surprised to see so many people signing up, even if half of them really suck it would still be hard to get in. If only there was a ping-pong team like in other schools, which is favorite and best "sport".
Oh and DVD's of good TV series are totally worth it. I consider the 27 dollars I spent on Love Hina or the 50 bucks I spent on Slayers some of the best money I have ever spent.
Love is patient. Love is kind. Love always forgives, trusts, supports, and endures. Love never fails. When every star in the heavens grows cold, and when silence lies once more on the face of the deep, three things will endure: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.

| School has started, as well as all that implies.
School can be fun, and it is (albeit rarely). School can also be boring, and it most definitely is.
My Day 1 is horrible.
French with Mersiadis. She's arrogant; acts like she is "better" than the other french teachers. She's LOUD. And I won't even talk about her teaching. Not to mention the fact that I have few friends in the class save for Peter and Billy. And the fact that I already have had to turn in an assignment AND have a quiz on Monday.
Comparative Civilizations with Braun. The sole redeeming point. The subject name should give you an idea of what is studied, and Braun is one of the best teachers in PG. Only downside is that it looks like Richard Lee and I are going to be sitting at the same table all year due to the fact that we are the only Grade 11's.
Biology with Hayes-lots of boring notes on the first class gave me a good idea of how the class will be. But at least he's better than Carmichael in that he will actually prepare you for tests.
Math 12 with Letourneau-Chatting not allowed when working, random homework checks. On the plus side I may learn how to bisect and factor obtuse inverse polynomial radicals well enough to use the technique in later life. (lol?)
Day 2-Starts off nicely with a spare.
Then moves into English with West. (love English)
Socials with Braun (see above)
and finally Accounting 12 with Lee (lots of free time on the computer).
But enough about school.
I took a blood test for the first time on Tuesday (my arm ached for an hour), due to the fact that my doctor thinks I might have diabetes. I really, really hope I don't, I've read enough stories with diabetic characters to know it really turns your life upside down. I'm not really worried since I believe (or have managed to convince myself) the chances are really low.
I recently bought a gameboy advance player and some gameboy games, which should arrive any day. (I expected them today/yesterday in fact)
Thinking of which DVD's I should buy next to add to my currently small but growing collection.
And I don't mean DVD's of movies, I think they're a huge waste of money. Why pay 20+ bucks for a DVD of a 2 hour or less movie when you can pay about the same and get a 3-5 DVD set of dozens of episodes of an excellent TV series?
Currently, I have all 3 season of Slayers, Season 3 and 4 of Saved by the Bell (or so the box says, though there are no actual season 4 episodes), Volume One of Garfield and Friends, all 77 episodes of X-Men, and all episodes of Love Hina.
Should I buy another Anime series? There's a lot to choose there, Record of Lodoss Warr, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, etc.
Or I could get some classic cartoons like Looney Tunes, several choices from that show alone.
Any advice appreciated.

| Life goes on, no matter what you do. Unless you take the easy way out and kill yourself.
Been whiling away the dwindling days of summer playing games, watching the numerous DVD's I bought, (Slayers, Saved by the Bell), going to Kerrisdale for various reasons, places like Playdium, and of course, engaging in the business of selling on ebay, with all the aspects thereof, including numerous trips to the post office.
On that note, people will buy a lot of crap on ebay. Take, for example, a "glow pen" (it's a pen you see, and it glows!) that my parents got for free at CIBC. Is it useless? You bet! Nevertheless...

How about a VHS of the movie "Aladdin", which virtually everybody on the continent has seen at least once? Surely no one would buy it...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6315671417&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT Selling on ebay has been very lucrative for me. Not to mention, most people get emails with subjects along the lines of: "SNEAK THEIR PASSWORD!" "DISC0UNT BRAND CIGARETTES" (at least, my hotmail address does). So, it's gratifying to get numerous emails at my main yahoo email that go like this: "Item #6318006097 - Notification of an Instant Payment Received from chrisbelmont..." "Item #6920480725 - Notification of an Instant Payment Received from randal365..."
On to another topic, which is no doubt looming on many people's minds, despite their best efforts to stave it off. In a word, school. Most of us have received our schedules already. No doubt you noticed the fact that the only information it gives is what courses you have. Not the teachers, nor the room numbers, not even the block the subject is in. More astute individual may have noticed the fact that the homeroom reads "10X" (X being whatever letter you have) instead of "11X". Are the counsellors earning their pay? Hell no, but who knows what they're up to in that office of theirs? Hopefully this will result in missing the first few days/classes while they fix the mistake. (If indeed it is a mistake)
Mmmm...ever have fond memories of some TV show you used to watch a long time ago but now they never play it except on channel 429 which of course you don't get? Or maybe you want to check the earlier episodes of some show you got interested in but it's the 2nd/3rd/4th/100th season and you have no idea of the backstory. Or maybe you simply want to see if you really have watched every Simpsons episode. If so, I recommend the site: www.tvtome.com
It has, as far as I know, a database on almost every TV show on Earth, including anime, cartoons, and game shows, with comprehensive episode lists, episode summaries and cast list, for most of the well-known shows.

| In the past two weeks, I've been selling a lot of stuff on ebay, mostly games, approximately $250 worth. I'm pretty happy to be clearing some of my crap games for cash. No problems so far, except for the guy that didn't pay me in the beginning, but then after I filed a non-paying bidder report he paid within 30 minutes.
About 10 days ago, I was trying to buy this RPG game called Tales of Symphonia, but it was out of stock everywhere I tried. So I reserved a copy at the EBgames in Oakridge, and got a copy last Saturday. It turned out that since I reserved it, I got the free "Limited Edition" artbook of the game. It was basically just pictures from the game and portraits of the characters. I put it up for sale, and I got over $35 for it!
If any of you used to watch Fox Kids several years ago, you may remember the X-Men cartoon from the mid 90's. Not the crap "X-Men Evolution" from 2000, but the good cartoons.
Well, I bought a 4 dvd set of all 77 episodes over 5 seasons. (from ebay of course, where else?) Sure, it cost me over 90 bucks, but I figured it was worth it. Also bought the Silver Surfer cartoon 13 episode dvd collection for 32 bucks, just because I'm a Marvel fan. Heh.
Tomorrow will be August...and I don't mean the adjective. Every summer goes by damn fast.

| Went to Metrotown yesterday with parents, hung out at Chapters reading comics for 2 hours, played a game of Time Crisis 2 at Playdium, and played 2 dollars worth of Metal Slug 4 at the small arcade near TNT supermarket.
My dad got stung by a bee this morning, turns out there's a nest/hive in a bush in our front lawn. Damn. The pest control guys coming tomorrow to take care of it. Pretty bad, my dad's been limping all day.
One of my games got sold, for 20 US, the guy used buy it now. He still didn't pay yet though, so I am worried he is a fake bidder. The fact that his ebay account was created 4 days ago, after my auction was posted, doesn't help.
Hopefully he will pay by tomorrow morning, if he doesn't, then he probably will never, and I will get screwed on the ebay fees.
Here's the item if you want to take a look:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8117583780&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT
So I was looking at some auctions of games that I have on ebay, to check out the price that it usually gets sold for. I mean, if it gets sold for a 2.43 US plus shipping, it's not really worth it.
I have this Super Nintendo game called "R-Type III". I looked up completed auctions for it on eBay, and found this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8115686378&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
If you are too lazy to look, I will describe it.
The guy was selling a used copy of the game, including the box and instruction manual, which I also have. The condition was ok judging from the picture he showed.
He posted the auction on July 1, 11:46 PM. On July 2, 12:02 PM, someone had used buy it now and bought it for 35 US, not including the 12 US shipping cost.
The fact that it was bought in less than 20 minutes is pretty suspicious.
But if it's real, damn! 35 US is a lot for a game that I bought for $15 CDN.
